I think either my hard drive controller died as i replaced a Seagate 80 GB drive with a Western Digital 250 GB hard drive or my motherboard is not compatible with it. They are both IDE.

As far as replacing it goes im not really sure if it will be worth it but you can try newegg.com for a new one. I would say put the old on back in and see if that fixes it, and maybe if it does sell the whole thing and, and buy a new one with a bigger harddrive. Sometimes you just run in to compatibility issues when upgrading, and im not sure but i think when you are dealing with a pre-manufactured computer, like dell, gateway, HP, acer, ect., the motherboards are, i don't really know how to explain it but programed to the other components, so basically im not sure if you can replace the motherboard or not. I do know you cannot use the disk that came with the computer to load the OS on to the new harddrive, so like i said at the beginning i hope u purchased a new OS disk to go with the new hard drive. and btw you cannot use an upgrade disk either it needs to be the full version.
