How do I install replacement plastic pickup tube on briggs carb!?

Broke 1 replacement tube trying to install it, any secrets to getting it on there?How do I install replacement plastic pickup tube on briggs carb!?make sure it is the correct size,if so put a little oil on end of tube,you can use blunt end of lead pencil to help you get started.
